Classic Applesauce
Ingredients:
12 medium Washington Gala or Golden Delicious apples1 cup water
½ cup sugar, or less to taste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Method:
1. Wash, quarter, peel and core the apples. Place them in a large cooking pot and add the water.2. Cover and cook over medium heat until they are nearly soft, approximately 30 minutes.
3. Add the sugar and lemon juice and cook 5 more minutes.
4. Remove from heat and press through a strainer, puree in a food processor or mash with a potato masher. Add cinnamon to taste.
